HUMIDITY

for solvent-based paints, the correct value is between 10% and 15%;

for water-based paints, the correct value is between 5% and 10%;

for clear coats, the correct value is between 10% and 15%.


Above these values, the humidity of the air compromises the distension of the solvent base, affects the gloss and flash-off times of the solvent base, and causes speckles in the clear coat. We recommend using FSRD3-FSRD4 filters or TD³PRO Thermoconditioner, which bring the humidity to 0%.

TEMPERATURE

Temperatures below 25°C / 77°F cause a thermal shock that is harmful for water-based paints and make the application of clear coats and solvent-based paints more difficult. This is because, due to adiabatic expansion, the expanded air loses approximately 15°C / 59°F.


Detecting an air temperature at 20°C / 68°F is equivalent to applying at about 5°C / 41°F, with the consequences mentio- ned above. We recommend using the Thermodry Technology TD³PRO /TD¹PRO which brings the temperature up to 50°C / 122°F for clear coat and 40°C/104°F for base.

DEW POINT

for solvent-based paints, the correct value is between -6°C / 21.2°F and -12°C / 10.4°F ;

for water-based paints, the correct value is between -15°C/ 5°Fand -20°C / -4°F;

for clear coats, the correct value is between -6°C / 21.2°F and -12°C / 10.4°F.


The further you move away from these values, the less risk there is of water vapour transforming from a vaporous state to a liquid state, thus generating additional water in the system. We recommend using FSRD3-FSRD4 filters or Thermodry Technology TD³PRO, which bring the dew point to -40°C/ -40°F/-50°C /122°F

AIR CLEANING

The analysis of the filter inside the cartridge must give a result of perfect air cleaning. The presence of black dots or a change in color of the filter indicates a clear state of air contaminated by impurities and/or oil which, inevitably, leads to compromising the final painting result. In this case we recommend using Walcom® FSRD - TD range filter systems or replacing the filter cartridges of existing filter systems.
